Boston....

Day 6,
Today I was glued to the tv as the events of the bomb attack at the Boston marathon unfolded...it left me thinking what is next.  I couldn't really focus on my projects. I just kept thinking this kind of stuff doesn't happen in the USA. But it's sad because it does. We need to all stand up and say this is not the America we want to live in. Please pray for those who are lost. Have lost and those who may feel lost after this day has forever changed their lives.

Don't you hate it when....part 2

Day 4 continuing. ...

So I loved how the quilting turned out and turned it over and saw the oh crap. ...should have thought out my scrappy back placement....lesson learned.

,

Don't u hate it when......

Day Four-

So today I used my walking foot for the very first time on this project!!!! And boy did it made all the difference. I stitched in the ditch in both direction and had no bunching  where my seems joined....awesome....so I took it one more step to push my luck. I stitch on the diagonal in both directs.

Perfection! !!!

All is quilt on the home front!!!!

Day 2....
I lay in bed wishing sleep would come. i have watched
Leah Day free motion post.... i have watched Jenny at Missouri quilt co. and been through pinterest but still my eyes are not tired. i keep thinking about the mini quilt i made today from 5 fat quarters to test out using my new twister templete.....i love it!!!!!!
and it sits half quilted on my machine. the day got away from me and i just cant wait untill my morning stuff with the boys is done and little Bitty ( 13 month old ) is down for his nap. to get it finished :)

step one
for the mini quilt ( about place mate size)
pick 5 fat quaters
I picked 3 prints for center blocks
making sure 1 was very bright and would phop
cut 8 - 5x5 in. sq of each fabric
for my other two fabrics
i chose marble type but solid would be great.
cut 5 - 3in by 22 inches from on fabric for border
cut 5 - 2.5 in by 22 inches for binding
(save all scraps to peice for back)

step two
sew 5x5 squares as shown in picture
( sorry no picture of this step)

step three
add 3 in. border to the shorter sides first
save extra you trim an add this to other fabric for longer border side.

step four
Starting in the upper left corner seam of the border and first block. line up the cutting templete and cut around it. sorry no picture of this step the directions that come with it really help explain this step.
i cut my rows going down the short side and sewed as i went ....mixing up the pieces would have been a pain.

this is what i ended up with when i sewed it back together!!!!

My Very First Blog Post

Dear Fellow Quilter-
Well guys out there in blog land this is my very first blog ever in my 34 years on this planet. I have many reasons for it but are the reason important.... no. I just want a space all to myself but being in a house with 3 small boys and a husband space is limited. i have a small sewing nook...when we moved in my husband gave over the built in office area( will post a picture or two soon)to me and with a baby gate in the opening i have an area the size of a small walk in closet all to myself...the space is small....messy and i love it!!!!!

I hope to share all my joys and mistakes as a quilter and trying to start a pattern business with others out there in hopes of getting ya all quilting and thinking how u can take your dreams to the next step.

Below This is my first full size quilt i ever designed and made and i have never looked back....now for all u beginners out there like me start small...bite off more then i could chew on this one. i made it through it and it taught me i love being a quilter!!!!!

Well good night all my fellow quilter!!!!!
